Nature Development Company was founded to help reverse biodiversity loss in the world’s most critical ecosystems. Our purpose is to generate nature-positive impact through reforestation, sustainable forestry, and regenerative agriculture in degraded landscapes – combining commercial viability with measurable climate and community benefits.

Our Family Story

When our children were small, they were captivated by bugs in the backyard and spent hours exploring the hidden worlds under piles of leaves with wonder. As they grew, we travelled together to wild places — hiking through jungles and exploring remote landscapes, witnessing both the breathtaking beauty of nature and the growing pressures it faces from human activity. When the children became teenagers, they too inspired us to take even further action for helping nature by donating and participating in other concrete ways as a family.

Their curiosity and care inspired us to act. In April 2022, we founded the Planetary Responsibility Foundation, dedicated to preserving and restoring nature worldwide and fostering a sustainable balance between people and the environment. Together with Jens Böhme, now CEO of Nature Development Company, we began exploring catalytic ways to accelerate rewilding at scale. From this work, Nature Development Company was born.

Our goal is to restore ecosystems across vast landscapes, 10,000 to 100,000 hectares at a time. By working through partnerships with global investors, whose capital is repaid through accredited high-quality carbon credits. After 30 years of restoration, working hand in hand with local communities to ensure thriving nature and sustainable livelihoods, these landscapes will be handed over to national parks, indigenous communities, or conservation foundations for permanent protection.
